Working in a Global Matrix

newell_rubbermaid_logoSITUATION / NEED

Goal Success custom-designed a one-day program to help Newell Rubbermaid’s global leaders in transitioning to a matrix organization structure. The program combines self-assessment instruments, facilitated discussion, skills practice, and a customized action planning tool (the MAPTM). The program is currently being delivered in the U.S., France, South America, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada, and Australia.

This highly interactive program provides leaders the opportunity to develop the behavioral skills needed to be successful in a matrix environment. Participants practice important skills such as using influence without authority, while sharing real-life matrix challenges with their peers. The integration of two self-assessments provides insight as to how conflict and interpersonal preferences can be used to strengthen relationships within the matrix structure. Participants also examine how different cultures in the global environment add an additional layer of complexity, making interpersonal and relationship skills even more important.
